poke-balls
Poke-balls are mysterious objects in the pokemon world. Many people have wondered what happens to the pokemon when they are inside them. We know that they can hear what goes on in the outside world because trainers/coordinators, etc frequently call out attacks before removing the pokemon form the poke-ball. But what actually happens to the pokemon? Based on the episode in the first season "hypno's naptime" the pokemon becomes a miniature version of itself and is surrounded by blue. There are more accounts of this when people ask about Pikachu staying out of his poke-ball and Ash replies that Pikachu doesn't like to be contained. It seems really boring and I would imagine that the pokemon sleep for most of the time in there, the details are unknown except that the pokemon appears to float in the middle of the ball. We also know that poke-balls are controlled by electricity that is given to them based on transmission waves because in various movies/episode it is noted that they are cut off from the electricity system. Another mystery is that trainers seem to always know which poke-ball contains which pokemon, like they can tell them apart but in truth when mixed with a bunch of poke-balls they are unable to identify which poke-ball is which, as seen at the Indigo Plateau when Team Rocket steals all of the competing trainers' pokemon, however this rule is not set in stone as many other episodes where Team Rocket has stolen people's poke-balls they have managed to tell them apart. The question is how do trainers know which pokemon they are taking out? It is likely that trainers put their poke-balls in a specific order so that they can tell their poke-balls apart. A final question that I will tackle is how can some pokemon come out of their pokeballs of their own free will? This really is a mystery as the inside of a poke-ball, as shown in hypno's naptime shows that their are no seams on the inside of the poke-ball, and not only that but you need to enlarge the poke-ball using the electrical transmissions before taking out your pokemon.
